Using the content

Everything written here is free to read, and you are welcome to make anything you learn from it, including items you sell. You do not owe me a credit or a fee for a finished object.

What you may not do is republish the material itself:

• Do not copy an article, a chart, or a tutorial onto another website, in whole or in substantial part, in any language.
• Do not distribute the charts as your own PDF, printable, or paid product.
• You may quote a short passage or one row of a chart with a visible credit and a working link back to the page it came from.
• You may link to any page here freely, including in your own patterns and video descriptions. That is encouraged.

Pattern copyright

The free pattern round-ups on this site link to patterns owned by the designers who wrote them. Those patterns are not mine and are not covered by anything above. Their terms are set by their authors on their own pages, and you should read them, particularly if you intend to sell what you make.

If you are a designer and you would like your work removed from a round-up, or the credit or photo changed, email me and it will be handled promptly. No explanation required.

Accuracy, and the limits of it

The charts and tutorials here are researched carefully and corrected when readers find problems, but they are provided as-is with no warranty. Yarn behaves differently between brands and dye lots, hands work at different tensions, and manufacturers change their sizing. Always check your own gauge before committing to a large project.

Nothing here is professional advice of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, Crochet Explained is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, including wasted yarn, a garment that came out the wrong size, or a project that did not work.
